Upon arrival in Zurich, clear customs and meet our representatives who will escort you to your transportation to depart for Lucerne. Renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture surpassed by majestic snowcapped Alps, Lucerne is one of the prettiest cities in Switzerland. Sitting compactly on the shore of the eponymous lake, its colorful Altstadt (Old Town) is bordered on the north by a 14-century rampart called Museggmauer (Musegg Wall).

In 1178 the town acquired independence and gained importance as a strategic gateway for commerce. It was among the growing towns of the Swiss confederacy, and especially popular in attracting new residents. In 1798, nine years after the beginning of the French Revolution, the French army marched into Switzerland, causing the collapse of the old confederacy and establishing a democratic government.

In the second half of the 19th century, Lucerne became a popular destination for artists, royalty and people of prominence. The German composer Richard Wagner settled here in 1866; British Queen Victoria boosted the city by her visit in 1868; and the American writer Mark Twain further popularized Lucerne in his travel writings after visiting twice, in 1878 and 1897.

Lucerne’s status as a fashionable destination led to it becoming one of the first centers of modern-style tourism. Some of the city’s most recognizable buildings are from that period, such as Lucerne Railway Station built in 1896.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on one of Switzerlandʼs most iconic rail journeys — a breathtaking round-trip to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe at 11,330 feet above sea level. Starting in Interlaken, youʼll ascend through the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley, traverse alpine landscapes to Kleine Scheidegg, and then tunnel through the Eiger to reach the Top of Europe. After exploring the summit, descend via the ultramodern Eiger Express cable car to Grindelwald Terminal, before heading back to Interlaken.

Lunch is included today at Restaurant Crystal on top of the mountain. Return to Lauterbrunnen by train.

After breakfast you depart from Interlaken and travel to Gruyeres. At the foot of the Pre-Alps, you will be enchanted by the charm and picturesque architecture of the medieval town of Gruyères. The town has given its name to the area and to its delicious cheese. Come and explore a little town that’s been unaffected by the passage of time, built in a superb setting. The group will be invited to have a typical cheese fondue lunch in one the villages traditional restaurants.

From cheese to chocolate: Another highlight of this day is the visit of a chocolate factory:
Who has not dreamed of visiting a chocolate factory?

Discover the process of chocolate manufacturing and the scents that come from it in the famous Maison Cailler (Nestlé) chocolate factory in Broc. Thanks to an interactive guided tour, you will discover the secrets of chocolate manufacturing inside this operating factory. The visit also traces the history of the factory from 1898 to the present. The visit ends with tastings of Cailler’s main products.

Continue onward to Montreux where you will have a walking tour including a visit to Chillon Castle. To explain to curious people why Montreux attracts so many people is understandable because this little district of 20,000 people is full of surprises. On a walking tour, you will discover these little gems before arriving at the Chillon Castle. Montreux offers visitors a breathtaking view of the lake and of the mountains. Each year, the Montreux Jazz Festival welcomes famous musicians and generates the venue of thousands of people. Montreux is the city where Freddie Mercury spent quite a bit of time, and where a short visit to the recording studios shows the place of many of Queen’s renowned songs. Moreover, Montreux is a wine-producing region and owns many historical sites such as the Chillon castle. Charming, with traditions and history, this is what perfectly defines this region full of character.

The Olympic Museum is unique as it is the only Olympic Museum in the World. With the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, it is only natural to house the history and philosophy in the city of Lausanne. Juan Antonio Samaranch, president of the IOC from 1980 to 2001, was behind the creation of this museum. His aim was to promote and spread the Olympic spirit. With images and symbols, the museum shows that, “The Olympics is much more than a mere sporting competition. It is a philosophy of life that is rooted in the depths of time. Sport, art and culture are the traditional pillars of the Olympics.” Lunch will be included before returning to the hotel.

This morning you are able to enjoy breakfast at your leisure as your morning is free.

In the early afternoon, you will depart for a discovery of the Lavaux region and a unique experience. Of the five wine-growing regions in the Canton of Vaud, the UNESCO area “Lavaux” (between Lausanne and Montreux) is the most spectacular. The terraced steep vineyards benefit from threefold sun and heat radiation: direct from the sun, reflection from Lake Geneva and heat stored by the many stone walls. The Grands Crus wines of Switzerland grow here. Visiting the Lavaux is therefore a must when in Montreux.

Start by boarding a boat for a lake cruise on Lake Leman to see the beautiful region from the water. Next you will walk through the vineyards with guides that will explain the reasons why the region has become a UNESCO world heritage site and its history from the time of the Franciscan Monks to today. At the end of the tour, you will take a moment to taste the wines and produce of the region. This is done in a workshop presented by Constange Duboux, who is an Oenologist in the family wine production in the village of Riex in the heart of the Lavaux Region. During the workshop, Constance will take participants on a journey across the senses with different activities based on taste and smell with a tasting of the local wines at the end.

In the garden of the wine cellar a long table will be dressed with a spectacular view over the vineyards, the lake and the alps. The expert cuisine of the local Chef Stephane will take participants on a culinary journey of local and regional delights.

Afterwards, return to your hotel where dinner is on your own.

Breakfast is included before departing to experience Chaplin’s World, a site dedicated to Charlie Chaplin, the artist and man. Meet Charlie Chaplin, family man, in the Manoir de Ban; embark on a singular journey through the sets of his greatest films at this Hollywood-style Studio; take a peaceful walk in the gardens; and don’t forget to round off your visit with a stopover at the shops.

The idea for an ambitious, large-scale museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin and his lifeʼs work came about in the year 2000, when Swiss architect Philippe Meylan, and Quebecois curator, film buff and Chaplin aficionado Yves Durand, first met. The project was brought to life by a dedicated group, made up of business people, artists and key local players, as well as teams of architects, engineers and designers, working together with the Chaplin Foundation.

Afterwards, lunch is included at a local restaurant.
