Sandals Grande St. Lucian // September 2018

Arrived UVF – long lines for customs/immigration – AA and DL planes at the same time – about 40 minutes to process. Quick walk to Sandals Lounge – quite nice with refreshments, snacks and bathrooms. We were put on the shuttle about 15 minutes later – van service for 6 to Halcyon and Grande – a good 1 ½ hours to get to Grande. Road is windy and hilly, but some nice views of the ocean, mountains and Lucian life, and I’m ok with that. At check in directed to Club Level Lounge and given the room keys. While we were at the Club lounge we set up reservations for 2 meals – Gordons on the Pier, and Kimonos.

Room – Caribbean Beachview Club Level Walkout. Main level of Massade building – walkout facing the beach area – great view! The room has been refreshed – bathrooms redone – glass tile tub surround & marble counter. The rooms are comfortable but not overly large; still have the 4 poster beds which I like. Pictures on Sandals web site are very representative of room style (except our patio door did not open quite that wide!)

Staff was friendlier than we remembered from last visit – good food options (enjoyed that the buffet was inside; seating outside). Stopped by LaToc for dinner after our adventure to Martinique. Even without some of the latest renovations at some properties, from all we saw, both were well kept and in good condition – lots of lounging areas with fire pits at night. We also enjoyed many watersports activities & beach features – catamaran rides and more.

There was the possibility of a storm coming – we get a call from the GM asking about our stay, and in-room notices they were monitoring the storm and would advise, so that was nice to see in advance (Monday/Tuesday).
