AMAZON & PERU • FALL 2015

The Amazon is a living labyrinth of forests, wildlife and people, all bisected by a storied river meandering 4,200 miles across South America. Cloaked in heavy mist, boasting every shade of green, the heart of the Amazon is a wilderness that has pulled at the spirits of adventurers for centuries. Beyond the untamed frontier along the riverbanks are more than 1,300 species of birds, 40,000 plant species and a vibrant Ribereño culture descended from European and indigenous forebears.

Our home on the Amazon will be the newly-constructed La Estrella Amazonica. Cabins aboard the riverboat are spacious at about 220 sq. ft., air-conditioned and offer floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies. In the evenings, stargaze from the expansive Observation Deck and learn about the stars of the Southern constellations. During the day, drift down narrow tributaries aboard the small excursion boats or hike through the thick jungle. Each day, expert naturalist guides will hold discussions on the history, geography and surrounding wildlife. Join the stimulating conversation while enjoying complimentary wine, beer or cocktails.

This trip includes an extension to Machu Picchu and Cusco. Explore the ancient ruins, temples and fortresses that were built to protect the Sacred Valley. Stroll through the streets of Cusco to admire the stunning architecture.
